Squealing Noise From the Engine? What to Check
A high-pitched squeal or chirp from under the hood, especially at startup, when turning the wheel, or when the AC kicks on, usually comes from the serpentine belt or a part it drives. The belt runs the alternator, water pump, power steering, and AC.
If the squeal comes with the battery light, the temperature gauge climbing, or the steering suddenly getting heavy, the belt may be slipping badly or about to break. Pull over safely, since a broken belt can stop the alternator and water pump and lead to overheating.

Squealing Noise From the Engine: common questions
Is a squealing belt dangerous?
Not right away, but it's a warning sign. If the belt breaks, you can lose battery charging, power steering, and engine cooling at the same time. A belt is an inexpensive part to replace before that happens.
Can I spray something on the belt to stop the noise?
Belt dressing can quiet it for a while, but it hides the cause and can make some belts slip more. It's better to replace a worn belt or fix the tensioner or pulley behind the noise.
