Car Leaking Fluid? Identify It by Color
A spot under your car can be harmless water from the AC or a sign of an oil, coolant, brake, or transmission leak. The color, feel, and location of the drip usually tell you which one it is.
If the fluid is brake fluid (clear to light yellow and slippery, often near a wheel), or the brake pedal feels soft, don't drive the car. Have it towed or inspected. A large puddle of any fluid, or a leak with a warning light on, also needs attention before driving further.

Car Leaking Fluid: common questions
Is water dripping from my car normal?
Usually, yes. Clear water under the front of the car after running the AC is condensation, which is normal. If it's not clear, feels slippery, or has a smell, it's a fluid leak worth checking.
Can I keep driving with a small oil leak?
For a short time, if you keep the oil topped up, but small leaks tend to grow, and oil dripping onto hot parts can cause a burning smell or smoke. It's cheaper to fix early.
